Living Room Dreams with Arhaus Furniture
I recently moved from Roanoke, Virginia to a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. This is our 5th and final move so I am doing a lot of projects throughout the house to make this final home, finally ours. We purchased a home with good bones, a beautiful garden, unique features… but definitely needs some serious updating!
I like my home to feel cozy, yet interesting. I like contemporary designs, vintage treasures, traditional pieces and a clean background. That is why I love Arhaus Furniture (http://www.arhaus.com/). I can always find something that is perfect for my somewhat eclectic decor. I am creating some dream designs for this giant renovation project and want to start with the living room.
The living room is where we spend most of our time as family and entertaining. I have painted the oak trim white and the walls “Cement Gray” by Benjamin Moore. It feels very clean and calm. I like to start with a neutral palate and add color with artwork, rugs, pillows, etc.
Check out what I have on my dream list for this room…
I love this Flanders Two Piece Upholstered Tufted Sectional in Parquet Charcoal. The color is a classic gray and the fabric feels like the fabric from a man’s suit. The nail head adds a classic detail and gives this piece a very polished and finished look.
Arhaus does offer a wide variety of sectional sofas. You can find more options, styles and colors here: www.arhaus.com/
I have chosen this Butler Tufted Leather Ottoman in the color “teal” and with built in trays. I encourage mixing materials and colors in a space. I love the cool leather with the gray “mens suit” fabric. The pop of color adds that eclectic surprise that I like. The removable trays are perfect for controlling clutter, storing magazines and for serving drinks and snacks.
For the area rug, I chose something with a hint of gray and blue. I did not want to be too monochromatic with the ottoman by going with too much teal. This rug compliments all of the colors nicely and the rug texture feels traditional, but with a more contemporary design.
I have a chair that is a neutral beige and I have tossed an embroidered throw pillow on it. The pillow is full of color with a turquoise pom-pom trim. It is perfect for this room. However, I do still need a side table. I found the Cambrey Round End Table in Antique Oak.
It is a hand-carved distressed oak base and has the feeling of an antique.
Finally, we add the finishing touches with the artwork. I am an artist and do believe hanging meaningful, beautiful pieces of art are very important for a home design. I love to mix the artwork I hang in my home with items from places I have traveled, custom artwork and reprints that I personally connect with. I don’t like my home to look like you are stepping into a furniture show room so I avoid being to focused on coordinating color. I want it to feel special and personal.
I chose these three pieces to go in my living room. I have custom artwork and tiles from Italy in this room as well.
What would you include in your dream design?
