Lindee’s Black Bean Burger

By  |  4 Comments

After searching for the perfect veggie burger, I decided to make my own! This burger is full of flavor and actually stays together when you cook it!

Ingredients

1 15 ounce can black beans, drained
1 cup oats
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/4 cup of BBQ sauce
1/4 cup of tomato paste
1tsp chili powder
1 tsp of coriander
1tsp of turmeric
1 teaspoon cumin
1/8 to 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Place all ingredients in bowl and mash together with a wire potato masher. Give the oats time to “soak up”  the moisture and flavor.     Heat pan on medium heat for 1-2 minutes and then spray with oil
Use a 1/2 cup measuring scoop and fill to top for each burger
Create patties with bean mixture
Smash down lightly with a spatula
Cook 2-3 minutes and flip
Spray top of burger and cook another 2-3 minutes

Thank you to the “Roanoke Natural Foods Co-Op” for supplying the ingredients for this segment.

Thanks Marla! It is quite the combo, but very good. My husband is from India and so I have slowly learned how to incorporate a lot of these spices into everyday food. There are so many health benefits in these spices…and of course, the flavor doesn’t hurt either.
